This fall, Calico is trading summer hangs for steins, sausages and plenty of Prost! with an Oktoberfest celebration running September 20 through October 4. The Blagden Alley backyard bar will bring a little Bavarian spirit to Shaw with beer specials, hearty Oktoberfest fare, seasonal drinks and a kickoff party on Sunday, September 20 filled with games and festivities.

The celebration begins with a proper Oktoberfest kickoff on Sunday, September 20 from 1-9pm. Lederhosen are strongly encouraged, with prizes and bragging rights up for grabs in a Best Dressed competition. The afternoon will also feature classic Oktoberfest-inspired games starting at 3pm including hammer striking, pretzel toss and stein-hoisting.

For those more interested in eating and drinking their way through Oktoberfest, Calico will serve up plenty of German-inspired favorites including large Soft Pretzels ($8) served with beer-infused dips (including seedy mustard and beer cheese), and Bratwurst($16) with sauerkraut and mustard on a pretzel bun. Beer lovers can also enjoy a selection of Oktoberfest beers (such as Weihenstephaner) and beer tastings throughout the celebration.

The festivities continue beyond opening weekend, with Oktoberfest food and drink specials available daily from September 20-October 4, plus a special Oktoberfest themed trivia on Tuesday, September 22.

Calico’s Oktoberfest celebrationis free to attend and open to the public, with all food and beverage sold a la carte.
